War Story
Flashback has produced the launch film for WAR STORY a new project from the Imperial War Museum to record the experiences of serving men and women in Afghanistan.
The project will add to the Museum’s unique record of war experiences going back to the letters and diaries of soldiers from the First World War trenches.
Soldiers, sailors and airmen will be encouraged to pass on digital records and images chronicling their time in combat zones to the Museum.
The film produced by Taylor Downing at Flashback features interviews with several serving soldiers, sailors and airmen. It includes extracts of an interview with Medical Assistant Kate Nesbitt, the first woman in the Royal Navy to receive the MC for courage under fire.
Producer Taylor Downing said of the WAR STORY film “It was a great privilege to make this film for the Imperial War Museum. It’s really important in the digital era where emails and entries on personal sites can so easily get lost, to preserve the records that will be the foundation stone for histories of present day conflicts.”
WAR STORY is a long term IWM project sponsored by Boeing.
